The North Face Mendoza Jacket works great on and off the hill. A stylie coat for wearing around town also functions perfectly as a warm under-layer on those frigid mornings waiting in line for the the Collins lift to start spinning. With a down rating of 550 this jacket will keep you warm on the coldest of days and with a water resistant DWR finish it can handle a little bit of precip as well.
I wore this coat all last week when our temps were almost unbearable and never got too cold or too warm. For a down coat it’s very slim feeling and fits well underneath any shell.
