This has been the season of weekend powder. It’s great timing since our availability has been reduced to weekends for the time being. This storm was a bit of a surprise topping out at around 17 inches of fluff.
The skiing was great all over Alta. The untracked snow was skiing superb with perfect rhythm to it. There was a very icy layer underneath but it was undetectable most of the time. Except when Nate aired Bad News and took a direct hit!
We started out with a Backside that was fabulous. Baldy Shoulder opened up shortly after and we found fantastic snow in there where it hadn’t slid off yet. The best 3 turns of the day I found on Sunspot right before we left. Perfect snow. Until we hit the traverse below.
The snow showers continued all day so the vis wasn’t great, but the ski day truly was.
