Alta saw around 2 feet of very dry low density snow over the weekend. Conditions were great in places, and surprisingly disappointing in others. Where there were moguls previous to the storm, those moguls firmed up fully and you could feel them under the fluff but couldn’t really see them coming.
The smoothest and most bottomless snow I found was in the little chutes between West Rustler and Jitterbug. Backside from the High Notch opened up for the first time today. Lots of rocks still in some of the early chutes but some great snow was found high and low in Susie’s trees. All in all a great day if you could keep from jarring yourself hard on hidden ice moguls.
