Alta received about a foot of fluff overnight. But because Evan Thayer of famed Wasatch Snow Forecast did not predict this would happen, the parking lot was relatively empty and there was no traffic. In essence, it was a sleeper pow day. But the powder Gods were apparently asleep too.
Because on turn #1 of run #1 one of our contributors took a fast turn on surprisingly hard snow and his heel bone along with ligaments was ripped from the rest of his foot. After a butt slide down all of High Boy we were safely at Alta Medical Clinic.
Once our wounded comrade was secure we got back out for one more run. There’s definitely still a tough layer of mogully snow beneath but it is softening up fast. With more snow on the way it is going to get really good.
