Twas a much anticipated powder day at Alta however it was difficult to fully appreciate the snow with the air temperature hovering around -5 degrees F on top of Collins. New snow was fluffy-light early on but as tracks began turning to small moguls the new snow took on a different feel. Or maybe that was just the frozen feet telling us to find shelter.
All areas of Alta are really starting to fill in. We couldn’t find any rocks on Lone Pine. I even saw someone send it down the left side of Thirds, although I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a total badass. In summation, it’s ridiculously frigid up there but the snow is falling and the rocks/stumps are getting covered. Looking forward things are getting good. Bundle up and don’t ski more than 3-4 runs without a warm-up!
