In all my years skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon I haven’t seen too many inversions rival the one we currently have creeping up our canyon. Driving up this morning we passed the white pine parking lot and were still in the smog. I thought maybe the web cams from this morning were lying to me, but sure enough once we passed Snowbird’s entry level one the blue sky’s reappeared. The skiing today unfortunately wasn’t worth writing home about. Conditions at Alta are starting to get very firm and are still extremely rocky. We found some decent turns off of West Rustler where the snow was relatively grippy, compared to most of the groomers. If for nothing else though, coming up skiing is worth it just to get out of the smog.
