If you want a breathable mid layer, this is the go to jacket. The Arcteryx atom jacket is the perfect find for someone looking for a breathable insulated mid layer jacket. I use the atom jacket mainly when I’m hiking in the backcountry. The atom jacket is constructed of a stretch fabric which makes it water repellant and wind resistant making it the perfect accent jacket, even on a cold day. The core loft lining will keep you warm but not allow you to overheat. The underarms have a breathable material which allows water vapors to pass through leaving you dry and an ideal temperature. The atom jacket is also great paired with a shell over the top when making laps at the resorts. I particularly like the atom jacket with the hood to keep my neck warm if it’s windy or throw over my head while I’m ripping the skins off my skis to prepare for the descent. It’s also a great jacket to wear around town. I give the atom jacket a double thumbs up.
Suggested Retail Price: $180; with the Hood: $200
