Today the skies finally cleared after snowing since Thursday. Alta Ski Patrol was able to open up Baldy Shoulder and Backside sometime around noon. The snowpack is far from stable and there was significant activity in these areas. Most of the entire face of Backside was avalanche debris. Although we did get reports of the debris skiing quite well we chose to hit Yellow Trail with deep pow and better lighting.
We also found great snow on Thirds and Powder Paradise in the morning when the High Traverse was the best option. The snow is thick and has done a great job of covering up hazards. What a great winter storm for Utah!
